Engineer Olympics: How We Turn Quality, Pride & Passion into World-Class Service

At Caffeine Limited, our engineers are at the heart of everything we do.

They are the reason we deliver the level of uptime, reliability and trust our partners rely on every single day.

So when the whole team came together recently to reflect on 2025 and align on our plans for 2026, we wanted to do more than talk about numbers and strategy. We wanted to celebrate the people who make our service what it is.

That’s how the Caffeine Engineer Olympics were born.

Led by our Service Manager, Dawid, the day brought our engineers together for a series of challenges designed to reflect what really matters in our work: technical excellence, attention to detail, coffee knowledge, and teamwork – all delivered with pride.

Challenge One: Latte Art

Each engineer poured a latte, judged by our in-house coffee champions Michaela and Mariusz. Engineers were ranked on quality, technique and consistency – with a fun “champions’ twist” that allowed a little friendly revenge scoring from the wider team.

Challenge Two: Brewer Service Challenge

Engineers were tasked with disassembling a brewer to service point, replacing key O-rings, reassembling, calibrating and returning the machine to full working condition.

Speed mattered – but quality mattered more.

Points were awarded based on correct procedure, accuracy, final operation and time, reinforcing one of our biggest service values: doing the job right the first time.

Challenge Three: Technical Quiz

From component identification and part functions to coffee recipes, temperatures, pre-infusion and grind parameters, engineers were tested on the knowledge that underpins great service. One of the standout moments was a recipe challenge for our Top Dog coffee on a bean-to-cup machine, reflecting our growing focus on coffee quality alongside engineering excellence.

Why This Matters

In 2025, our engineers achieved a 91% first-time fix rate – a number we’re incredibly proud of. But we’re not stopping there. Our goal is 95% and beyond, because every avoided revisit means less downtime for our partners and a better experience for their customers.

Days like this aren’t just about competition. They’re about connection. Many of our engineers spend their days on the road, so bringing everyone together builds shared standards, shared pride, and shared momentum.

As we move into 2026, the Engineer Olympics perfectly captured what Caffeine stands for:

Quality in every detail. Pride in our work. Passion for doing it better, together.
